Somethings to Know – Central Park New York City

This Somethings to Know is all about keeping cool.  We’ve  put together a list of ideas for water themed fun in Central Park, along with an easy-to-use map of the Park from the Red Maps New York City.

Kerbs Boathouse
Be the captain of your own private sailing ship.  Rent a model boat to sail on the adjacent Conservatory Water, and if you have kids along walk them over to see the nearby Alice in Wonderland sculpture.

Delacorte Theater
If you’re lucky enough to get tickets to the Delacorte’s Shakespeare in the Park series, before the show, head over to nearby Turtle Pond and Belvedere Castle to see the resident turtles sunning themselves on the rocks.

Loeb Boathouse
Row your own boat on Central Park’s gorgeous 22 acre Lake.  Be sure to glide under elegant Bow Bridge and past historic Bethesda Fountain, two architectural gems.

The Reservoir
Like to run?  Surrounding this body of water is one of the most famous jogging paths in the city, you may have seen it in “Sex and the City” as well as “Hannah and Her Sisters”. President Bill Clinton, Madonna and Jackie Kennedy Onassis (for whom the reservoir was named) , are among the famous runners who have                                              taken to this track.
