The Getty Villa
17985 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu  getty.edu
To step into the Getty Villa is to see one of the most jaw-dropping, spectacular
collections of Greek, Roman and Etruscan antiquities in the world.  Clearly Mr. Getty,
an avid collector, was given first dibs on the great finds of his day.

LA’s encyclopedic museum continues to expand with 2008’s Broad Contemporary
Art Museum and this year’s just opened, the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Pavilion.
LACMA recently acquired a collection of European fashion that spans two centuries.

Norton Simon Museum of Art
411 West Colorado Blvd, Pasadena  nortonsimon.org

The Norton Simon remains one of the most exquisite collections of art in the country,
if not the world.  From a too gorgeous Kandinsky to Dutch landscapes and Renaissance masters, Mr. Simon and company bought very well.  And with regards to landscapes, the best here might very well be the Norton Simon’s own interior courtyard.
